I stopped in at an old book store yesterday, thousands of miles from my home town. None of the people in the bookstore even spoke English, but low and behold there was a huge stack of old American comic books someone had brought in for sale. My, I had not even seen a comic book for many, many years.


The prices, now some comic books, cost US$5 or more.  I remember buying them for 15 and 25 cents each in the States years and years ago.

There were so many comic book topics that I saw in the bookstore today I was amazed, from ´GI Joe, to Popeye, Tarzan and more. I had a huge collection when I was a kid. The books are all gone now.
Comic books meant a lot me because that was how one of the primary ways I learned to read, write, and eventually speak. I lived in comic books while the kids on the block were arguing and fighting.

Beside comic books printed in the United States, there are many other countries that have their own comic book authors, heros and brand names.  Comic books are especially popular in Japan, China and the European continent.  The next generation in comic book development has arrived as well.  These comic books can be found in the form of animated games which appear on the Internet.  Comic books on paper has made the quantum leap to the Internet giving the appearance that the comic book characters have come alive in both sight and sound.

Bookstores are some of the best places to look for old or new classical comic books. Good luck in your search. Keep your eye open for the comic book that might be worth a million dollars or more. They are out there.
